Many times individuals with wheelchairs or walkers have limited access to rooms due to doorways that are to narrow. This causes many people to leave their walker or wheelchair and “furniture walk” along the rooms holding onto furniture, and placing them at increased risk for fall. Widening of doors allows improved access to all rooms. Often just opening a door takes up lots of space and isn’t practical for people using walker or a wheelchair. Pocket doors are a good option for smaller spaces that may not have the space for a full-swing door. They are perfect for closets or connecting two spaces (between bathroom and bedroom) where floor space counts.
